World Renowned Laboratory Selected LATICRETE SUPERCAP to Achieve Flat Floor Specifications

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is one of
the world’s premier biomedical research facilities located on the North Shore of
New York’s Long Island. The lab is home to eight Nobel Prize winners and
hundreds of world-class scientists technicians and graduate students. When
the facility’s administration announced the renovation of the historic Demerec
Laboratory the project included exacting specifications for the flooring
and finished surfaces. “Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is one of the world’s most
renowned institutions. We focus on molecular biology and genetics here the
Demerec Laboratory building has been repurposed for a new program in whole
body physiology research for cancer. Six new laboratories will be opening in this
building this fall. All of them will be filled with very expensive high-tech
equipment all of which requires very stable, very flat flooring. And we’re
grateful for the LATICRETE technology that is allowing this research to
continue.” “The GC on the job was at Fortunato and they needed level flat
floors to receive the sensitive flow goods that we’re going to go down today.
We put down sheet vinyl we also put down some carpet tile and we also did NBC on
the ground floor and on the first floor and that allows for the moisture to be
retained down inside the concrete so it doesn’t affect the flooring goods. The
most exciting thing about these floors is how flat and how level we can get these
floors. We also did the SUPERCAP. The product we use here was the SC500 that
is the LATICRETE SUPERCAP workhorse product. We do millions of square feet
every year here in New York.” LATICRETE International is a family-operated,
global business founded by Dr. Henry M. Rothberg whose sons David and Henry
continue to lead the company. By fortunate coincidence their brother Dr.
Jonathan M. Rothberg invented and implemented a key technology used in
Spring Harbor Laboratories genetic sequencing research.
