DIY Fashion ♥ Toothbrush Bracelets

Hi, I’m Kat, and this tutorial is how to make these chunky acrylic bracelets. They’re bright, and colorful, and they’re made of toothbrushes. I used to make these all the time when I was 10 and 11 and they’re really fun, and colorful, and super 80s, and actually really, really easy to make. For this you’ll need some toothbrushes. These plain ones are always the cheapest ones in the store. These were $1.99, plus they had a 75 cent coupon at Safeway. So I picked up 4 of those. You’ll need some pliers, a pot of water, and of course a stove to boil the water. For safety you’ll also need a small towel or oven mitts, as well as some heat resistant tongs. And children should not do this project without the help of a fully competent and safety-conscious adult. Next, take your toothbrush, and your pliers, and rip out all of the bristles. Next, put your water on the stove, set it to medium-high heat, and wait for it to boil. Once the water is boiling, drop in all of your toothbrushes. Check them every so often to see if they’re pliable. And as you can see, this one only took about 10 seconds to soften up. So I’m just going to fish that out. Grab it with the dish cloth. It’s a little bit hard to see, I apologize. But I don’t want to burn myself. I’m going to coax that into a cuff shape. And I want to make sure it’s large enough to actually fit. It only stays hot enough to burn you for a couple of seconds. And I don’t quite like the shape of that one, so I’m just gonna dip that back in for a few seconds. And try to bend just the tip of that toothbrush head. So there’s the first one. This one I’m actually going to do a little bit differently, and twist it a little bit first. And once you’ve twisted it as much as you need, start shaping it into your bracelet. And that is all there is to it. If for some reason you ever need to resize the bracelets, you just heat them up, and slightly reshape them.

  4. I think if you didn't want people to really tell it's a toothbrush you could easily cut off the head of the toothbrush and no one would really know.
