Ask A Scholar – Does The One Who Commits Minor Shirk Dwell In The Hellfire Forever?

Moderator: May Allah bless you. The questioner asks: Does the one who commits minor shirk dwell in the Hellfire forever? (Sheikh):
No, the one who commits minor shirk does not dwell in the Hellfire forever Because it;- minor shirk- does not take one out of the religion The one which makes a person dwell in the Hellfire forever (May Allah protect us from it) is the major shirk due to the Words of Allah -Most Blessed and Most High (in Al-Maaidah 5:72)
Surely whoever associates (others) with Allah, then Allah has forbidden to him Jannah (Heaven), and his abode is the fire; and there shall be no helpers for the unjust. However, is shirk included under that which is subject to the will of Allah like the rest of the sins? Or is repentance necessary? This depends Depends on the fact that Allah says (in An-Nisaa’ 4:48),
Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him encompasses the minor and major shirk ie;- that they are not forgiven But the minor shirk does not cause one to dwell in Hell forever It could also be said; that the meaning of shirk in the Words of Allah (in An-Nisaa’ 4:48),
Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him Ie: The Major Shirk Such that the minor shirk falls under His Words:
and forgives what is besides that to whomsoever He pleases And the Grace of Allah (exalted be He and raised far above) is greater than what we can ever imagine. And we hope that the minor shirk falls under that which is subject to His Will Syeikh:Yes
Moderator: May Allah bless you. Syeikh continues: With that, I would like to take the opportunity to point out an issue regarding this verse ie- the Words of Allah (in An-Nisaa’ 4:48)
Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him, and forgives what is besides that, to whomsoever He pleases Some of those who take sins lightly when they are prohibited from committing sins (These kind of people) will say:
Verily Allah says:
Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him, and forgives what is besides that to whomsoever He pleases Therefore, all sins are subject to His will And so he takes sins lightly due to this in which Allah most high says (all is forgiven) in which there is no shirk. So we say to him You are wrong from all aspects Do you know whether Allah Most High will want to forgive you? Surely you do not know and perhaps you are from amongst those of whom Allah does not want to forgive So you are taking a risk exposing yourself to danger Furthermore, there are other evidences which are clear-cut without any ambiguity which is the obligation to repent to Allah (The Great and Almighty) Indeed Allah the Blessed and Most High said (In An-Nur 24:31)
And repent to Allah all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful. End of Translation.
